Entebbe Hosts Central Region MDD Festival

Entebbe, Uganda – Entebbe Municipality was on the spotlight this week as it hosted the 2025 Nankasa/Central Region Music, Dance and Drama (MDD) Festival for primary schools on 18th / 08 /2025.

The event, held at Lake Victoria Primary School, was officiated by His Worship Fabrice Brad Rulinda, the Mayor of Entebbe, who commended schools for using art and culture to promote social change and community awareness.

This year’s festival ran under the theme: “Wash, Fight Malaria & Register Your Children with NIRA.” The performances highlighted the role of music and drama in raising awareness on health, hygiene, and the importance of registering children with the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA).

After a highly competitive showcase of talent, St. Agnes Primary School emerged victorious and will represent the Central region at the national competitions in Mbarara on 24th / August / 2025.

Mayor Rulinda applauded the participants and urged schools to continue nurturing children’s talents alongside academic excellence, saying the arts are vital in building confidence, discipline, and national pride.
